I'm not sure which is better eye candy.  Is it Maggy Rouff's white satin evening gown with beading and a sea blue tulle stole?  Or is it the Chambre du Conseil at Versailles?  Photo taken in 1952.

Cotton shift dresses from the 1960s with bright floral prints are easy and fun to wear all summer long.  I would dearly love to find this one for my customers.  This Maggy Rouff Boutique dress from 1967 is made of pure linen.  I wish this photo were in color!

Friday Fur - Maggy Rouff, 1953

I've been puzzling over the construction of this white mink jacket? stole? for the last couple of hours.  Designed by Maggy Rouff in 1953, I think this is is a jacket with splits in the sleeves at the elbows so it looks like you're holding a separate muff.  But it could certainly be a separate muff.  What's your theory?

Chanel gold lamé evening gown.  The bodice is embroidered with gold metallic threads.

Callot Soeurs silk faille gown in dove gray with pink pleated frills at the back.

Jacques Heim black silk satin mermaid hem gown worn with a white fox fur stole.

Marcel Rochas black silk stripe gown with ruffles down the sides.  The gown is adorned with a bird made of black feathers that has a diamante beak.

1953 Couture

I was doing some research about a couture garment recently and was struck by the popularity of stripes for the spring of 1953.  Mme. Grés seemed especially fond of striped silk for that season.  Which is your favorite?
