Weekend Eye Candy - Gilbert Orcel, 1952

Gorgeous gray hat by French milliner Gilbert Orcel for spring 1952.  Insert smile here.

Weekend Eye Candy - Bruyere, 1948

How does one take a simple wide brimmed hat and make it extraordinary?  Instead of putting the bow on top of the brim, put it underneath to bring attention to the face.  I love this hat.  Marie-Louise Bruyere, 1948.

Weekend Eye Candy - Evening Hat, 1926

In 1926, an evening hat like this one by Judith Barbier was a must-have for every flapper.  The hat is completely covered in beads and rhinestones.

Sally Victor Hat - 1955

This is an ad from 1955 for Revlon's "Love-Pat" powder/foundation compact.  But that's not what I want to talk about.  It's the hat.  That wonderful hat.  It's an arrangement of white silk petals that form a cap so it appears the model has a flower molded to the top of her head.  Do you love it as much as I do?  Sally Victor is the designer.  Now that I've seen it, I'll be on the hunt for this beauty.  Oh yes, I will!

Weekend Eye Candy - Legroux Souers - 1952

It's Kentucky Derby day, so it's only appropriate to show  you a Derby-worthy hat.  This straw beauty by Legroux Souers, Paris dates to the spring of 1952.  Don't forget to wear your diamond 4-leaf clover pin for luck!

Weekend Eye Candy - Jean Barthet, 1958

It is only fair that I finish a week of hats with another wonderful example, this one by Jean Barthet from 1958.  Isn't it amazing what a simple rose can do for a hat?  What does your Easter bonnet look like?

Weekend Eye Candy - Jacques Fath, 1957

Jacques Fath weaves black silk ribbons into a tight fitting cap. The loops at the back resemble a fun coiffure. Notice too the mix of a double strand of pearls AND a brooch. Love!
