Guy Laroche Coat - 1964

I'm not a fan of hoods.  In fact, I won't buy a coat that has a hood unless I can remove it by way of a zipper or snaps.  I think they are messy and bulky, they just get in the way.  But, I am a huge fan of this hood!  Guy Laroche designed this coat for his Fall 1964 collection.  With it came this separate hood that extends into a short capelet.  I think it's the perfect answer for those nasty winter days when you want to look good but need protection at the same time.  Do you love it as much as I do?

Weekend Eye Candy - Guy Laroche, 1966

Guy Laroche brings op art to evening wear with the use of black and white sequins.  Notice how he accents the waist with the use of the size of the diamonds and how the pattern swirls from there.  I'm pretty sure I would faint if I found this dress today.

Paris Couture Day Dresses and Suits - 1958

You may have noticed I've been posting pretty things from 1958 this week.  I thought I'd just continue that by taking a look at Paris couture suits and daytime dresses from the same year.  Which is your favorite?

Inspiration From Guy Laroche - 1960

For Fall, 1960, Guy Laroche showed this trés elegant suit in orange and gray wool.  The dress is made to look like two pieces.  The jacket is reversible from orange with gray binding to solid gray.  The dress is fitted to the body while the jacket is the boxier shape that was so popular at the time.  Note the use of a brown leather hat and brown suede gloves to complete the look.

Vintage Couture Dresses - 1971
