Last week, Doris Raymond of The Way We Wore in Los Angeles wore this stunning gown and feather trimmed stole by Sophie of Saks to the premiere of her new reality show, "L.A. Frock Stars" on The Smithsonian Channel.
This morning, I was perusing the March 1, 1966 issue of Vogue magazine and look what I found! Doris, here's your dress! The caption says, "Feather print on a long halter dress of silk twill; a stole edged in marabou. All clean black and white. From the ready-to-wear collection by Sophie, at Saks Fifth Avenue. (Dear Vogue, that's ostrich, not marabou. But I forgive you.) House of Berland earrings.
I love it when this happens! Don't forget to watch episode 2 of "L.A. Frock Stars - The Awards Season" tonight!

Final Day to Enter!
THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO ENTERED!
Today is the final day to enter to win one of 10 copies of the best book about vintage fashion offered to my readers by The Smithsonian Channel and L.A. Frock Stars. And don't forget to watch the show tonight!
Get ready to go behind the seams of Hollywood's hottest vintage outfit. Don’t miss the all-new Smithsonian Channel series L.A. Frock Stars featuring Doris Raymond and her team of vintage virtuosos as they give fine vintage frocks a second chance to shine at today’s biggest red-carpet events. L.A. Frock Stars premieres this Thursday at 8pm ET & PT / 7pm CT on Smithsonian Channel. Go to smithsonianchannel dot com to find the channel on your TV.
I am so excited! Couture Allure has been asked to partner with the Smithsonian Channel's new reality show, "L.A. Frock Stars" and give you the opportunity to win one of 10 copies of "Fashion: The Definitive History of Costume and Style!"
First, let's talk about the show. I have watched the first episode of "L.A. Frock Stars", which goes behind the scenes at Doris Raymond's well known vintage store, The Way We Wore in Los Angeles. May I just say, I am very impressed! The show has done a fabulous job of respecting the clothing and honoring the vintage industry. You'll get to see some incredible vintage clothing, and who doesn't want to see Dita Von Teese try on 1950s Christian Dior Haute Couture? You can watch the first episode of "L.A. Frock Stars" online at the show's website, or if you get On Demand programming as part of your cable package, you can watch it now on your TV.
Second, let's talk about the book. I recommended "Fashion: The Definitive History of Costume and Style" to you back in January after I read it. This is an incredible 480 page book filled with full color photos of actual garments and a detailed history of costume and fashion from ancient Egypt right on through the 1990s. Believe me, you WANT this book! And I'm giving away 10 copies courtesy of The Smithsonian Channel and "L.A. Frock Stars!"
How do you enter to win? Simply head over to the "L.A. Frock Stars" website and have a look around. Then come on back here and leave a comment about a favorite moment in the first episode or which episode you are looking forward to seeing most or which dress you want. If your email address is not attached to your Blogger profile, please put it in your comment so I can contact you on Friday. 10 winners will be selected at random and announced on Friday, March 8. Please note that this giveaway is only available to those of you in the US and Canada. Enjoy the show and good luck!
